BARBRA RUSSELL, MA, LPC
“I’ve used what I learned here to make a difference in my life every day.” That sentiment expressed from many clients over the years is what propelled me to start speaking and writing. I’ve spent thousands of counseling hours working with many people who want to say “No,” who need to say “No,” but who say “Yes” anyway. I wrote Yes! I Said No! for those, and many others who need a guide to show them steps to take to re-claim their lives.
I became a Licensed Professional Counselor as a “second career” and have spent over 30,000 hours working with individuals, couples and families in my private practice. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s in Counseling and that “second career” prompted a move from Pueblo to Denver, Colorado where I am the Counseling Director at the Potter’s House. In addition to supervising counseling interns, I teach classes on a variety of subjects ranging from communication and conflict resolution to overcoming stress and anxiety. I also publish a blog entitled “Barb’s Stories From The Couch.”
I love what I do, and I love people. My desire in writing this book is to encourage and motivate others, just as I’ve done in the counseling office. I tell stories and teach skills so that more people can say, “I’ve used what I learned here to make a difference in my life every day.”
In my free time, my husband Jerry and I like to travel and get away to the mountains in Colorado, where my Iphone camera is my new best friend for taking pretty darn good pictures, one of my hobbies. In the winter time, it’s time to enjoy a fire, hot coffee and a good book.
